Central Zone was an after-school tutoring program for children who attended Central Elementary School, and was sponsored by our congregation and held at the church. Participants were recommended by school staff, and on a first-come, first-serve basis. With the closing of Central School we are recreating an after-school tutoring program, to be offered at the church on weekdays, starting up in November of 2011. After arriving at the church the children will have a snack and some time to relax, and then our volunteers will assist any child with homework and additional work given to us by the school. We will work primarily on reading and math skills. The parents will pick up the children at the church and provide transportation home.
